Destiny 2 was easier to grasp for new players, but it lacked the same habit-forming quality of the original.
Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness.
If all that's not enough, there are new Supers headed to Destiny 2 with Forsaken.
Forsaken releases in September, it will include a new game mode called Gambit. The Dreaming City was built from the ground up for advanced gamers and has its own raid and new bosses to take down.
PS4 users will have access to the usual timed exclusive content (until fall 2019): a strike, one gear set per class, a new ship, and an exotic weapon. Bows are also in, and each class seems to be getting significant reworks - "anime" style Void Warlock teleports were highlighted as the standout adjustment.
North Korea 'replaces top three military officials'
Meanwhile Trump has promised to "transform" the rogue state after a meeting with the dictator's right-hand man, Kim Yong Choi. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad plans to pay a state visit to North Korea, the North's official news agency says.
The design goal with Forsaken is to make it "feel like a game that never ends", bringing depth back to the game via customization, choices, and randomization, and reinforcing the concept of Destiny 2 as a hobby to pursue in and of itself.
"Today, we're excited to announce that we've entered into a new partnership with NetEase to help us explore new directions", said Bungie in the blog post.
In Gambit, two teams of four will race to summon a Primeval enemy and be the first to "burn it down".
Gambit will be a separate mode on the Director, existing alongside other play modes like Crucible. During this, certain actions will impact the other team, and at times, one person from the team can go over to the other side to attack the other team. The also cryptically talk about The Dreaming City and the secrets it hold, calling it massive, mysterious, and unlike anything they have ever done before. "We'll continue to work with our partners at Activision to foster this global community and turn new players from all over the world into Guardians". Earlier, the developer outlined the big changes hitting its shooter this September, as the alterations are rolled out alongside the title's next expansion, Destiny 2: Forsaken.
"With an absorbing new story, created by High Moon Studios in partnership with Bungie, Destiny 2: Forsaken offers core players an epic experience, and offers a compelling entry point for new players".
