While Samsung had filed to relitigate the case, the two firms eventually reached an out of court settlement, ending the years-long struggle.
After the filing, "all remaining claims and counterclaims in this case are hereby dismissed with prejudice, to the extent such are still pending, and all parties shall bear their own attorneys' fees and costs", Justice Lucy Koh wrote in her order today. Check out the filings in full below. How much, if anything, Samsung must pay Apple under Wednesday's settlement could not immediately be learned.
The jury in a lower court in San Jose, California, voted in Apple's favour.
Neither Samsung nor Apple revealed what the terms of the settlement were. Apple ignited the smartphone revolution with iPhone and it is a fact that Samsung blatantly copied our design.
In May this year, Samsung had lost the appeal against the initial verdict in which Apple had won the patent infringement claim.

It had looked like Brazil , after drawing its opening game 1-1 with Switzerland, was heading for another stalemate. Brazil gradually grew into the game, with Gabriel Jesus slammed the ball into the net, but he was clearly offside.
An epic legal battle between smartphone titans is finally over.
"This case has always been about more than money", the statement read.
Samsung appealed part of that award, taking its case all the way to the Supreme Court, arguing that damages should be limited since patent infringement involved only certain features.
In its 2011 complaint, Apple wrote: "Instead of pursuing independent product development, Samsung has chosen to slavishly copy Apple's innovative technology, distinctive user interfaces, and elegant and distinctive product and packaging design, in violation of Apple's valuable intellectual property rights". "It is important that we continue to protect the hard work and innovation of so many people at Apple", Apple had said in a statement at the time.
The retrial regarding damages was one element of a $548 million penalty - knocked down from an original $1 billion jury award - Samsung was ordered to pay for copying iPhone patents.
