Following a meeting in Vienna on Friday to save Iran's nuclear deal, European powers including China and Russian Federation, said that they support Iran's right to exporting oil and gas, despite threats of sanctions by the US. The participants in the meeting initiated by Tehran will focus on efforts to salvage the nuclear deal in the wake of Washington's decision to withdraw from it.
Iran signed a landmark nuclear deal with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany in 2015 to halt its nuclear weapons program in exchange for sanctions relief.
Foreign ministers from the five remaining signatories will discuss the European proposal with Iranian officials in Vienna on Friday.
Rouhani, who visited Switzerland and Austria this week to rally support for the nuclear deal's survival, said in a phone call with Macron that the package "does not meet all our demands", Iran's state news agency IRNA reported.
Friday's statement lists key fields to support Iran to secure its economic interests, including "the maintenance and promotion of wider economic and sectoral relations with Iran; the preservation and maintenance of effective financial channels with Iran; the continuation of Iran's export of oil and gas condensate, petroleum products and petrochemicals; the continuation of sea (including shipping and insurance), land, air and rail transportation relations", manly to shield the country's backbone of the economic sector from USA sanctions.
The European Union has already taken steps to shield European companies from USA sanctions, and it promises limited financial compensation to companies that are hit by the US measures.
Iran will stop oil exports from the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important oil chokepoint, if the United States succeeds in halting crude sales from the Persian Gulf nation, according to a Revolutionary Guards official.

McGee shot 16 for 20 - 80 percent - from the floor in the finals, and the Warriors were 7-1 in playoff games in which he started. The Lakers have renounced Julius Randle, added Lance Stephenson , JaVale McGee and re-signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Mogherini would chair Friday's meeting.
Iran has been committed to its obligations under the deal, he stressed.
But the challenges ahead are still tough as the European Union has not yet found a ideal path to compensate Iran's most losses under the USA sanctions.
On Friday, a ministerial meeting on the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was held in Vienna, capital of Austria.
"This is the first time they have shown this level of commitment, but we will have to see in the future what they really want to do and what they can do", Zarif said.
In an interview with RTL Radio, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian argued that an adequate economic package would likely not be able to be finalized before November.
