Details of Kawhi Leonard's freaky saga with the San Antonio Spurs last season will probably never emerge which means we'll always wonder how that relationship deteriorated and ultimately became untenable. However, Leonard has apparently recovered enough to have passed his physical in Toronto, while Danny Green, who went with Leonard in the trade, is providing some support for his teammate's skepticism toward San Antonio's medical staff.
Leonard reportedly demanded a trade out of San Antonio after he had a tense relationship with the team during his rehab process. "They've always been great to me, they've always done right by me, they've always done a hell of a job".
Leonard appeared in only nine contests until San Antonio shelved him in January for "an indefinite period of time", which turned out to be the rest of the season. I'd feel it. My agent (Joe Branch) said, "Maybe we should get a second opinion.' I didn't want to because I have full faith and believe in the Spurs" staff.
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is the head coach of Team USA. Despite his many accolades, which include two Defensive Player of the Year awards and the 2014 NBA Finals MVP award, Leonard carried himself in a similarly "stoic" manner as the Spurs' former franchise player, Tim Duncan, and mostly focused on his game, with little regard for his celebrity status.
Kawhi Leonard was traded by the San Antonio Spurs to the Toronto Raptors
It'll be interesting to see if Green can get the answers he wants before they embark on a new journey together in Toronto.
He had injury problems last season which lead to him and the Spurs organization struggling to figure out a solution to the problem.
Toronto Raptors guard Danny Green empathized with Kawhi Leonard's desire for a second opinion on his injured quadriceps, after learning recently during an exit physical in San Antonio that he had been playing with a torn groin that went undetected by the Spurs. Certain days, I'd have bad days.
"Nobody ever talks to Kawhi to know exactly what he's thinking or what's on his mind so the best way to monitor that or gauge it is by having him in your programme".
50 killed in wildfires in Greece
The severely burnt bodies were entwined in groups in "a final attempt to protect themselves", said rescuer Vassilis Andriopoulos. Other northern European nations have been struggling to contain forest fires as the temperature shows no sign of dropping.
