When the world needs Dark Phoenix the most, Jean must confront her biggest adversary - herself - and face the Phoenix before it rips her apart from those she loves the most.
The new trailer shows Jean Grey as a young girl scared and trying to figure out what's wrong with her. Professor X, played by the brilliant James McAvoy, really hit me with a tearjerker line: "Jean, you are not broken". The trailer, which originally leaked after it was revealed during a private Fox presentation in Russian Federation was debuted by Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner on The Late Late Show with James Corden and has now been officially released online.
And for the more cynical, well, the trailer also contains a line that sums up basically every X-Men storyline ever: "You're always sorry, Charles, and there's always a speech, and nobody cares".
Dark Phoenix Trailer: The X-Men's Latest Nemesis Is Within Their Own Ranks
The first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix is here, just as star Sophie Turner promised on Tuesday. The team embarks on a routine mission into space where things quickly take a turn and they find themselves in a battle with an intergalactic force over team member Jean Grey.
Much of the footage revolves around Grey, focusing on her traumatic childhood and extreme power.
The film marks longtime X-Men movie writer Simon Kinberg's first foray as a director, so he's under a lot of pressure to deliver what could be the last huge mutant movie before the franchise comes to Disney.
