On the eve of her testimony, an examination taken by Ford on August 7 was released, showing that she passed a polygraph test over the sexual assault allegations. The memory - and Kavanaugh's laughter during the act - was "locked" in her brain, she said.

Earlier, Ford said she "agonized daily" over the decision on whether to come forward to speak about sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh. "They have haunted me [and] been seared into my memory and have been hard to beat episodically as an adult", she said through tears'. I recall saying that the boy who assaulted me could someday be on the U.S. Supreme Court and spoke a bit about his background. "We sometimes seem intent on stripping people of their humanity so that we might more easily disregard or defame them and put them through the grinder that our politics requires". They're hoping for a final Senate roll call next week, seating Kavanaugh on the court for the October start of its new term.
Kavanaugh defended himself this week in a TV interview.
"We have lit a match", said retiring Sen. Yet, in the end, he won confirmation, by a vote of 52-48, the closest Supreme Court vote in more than a century.
