In a statement Wednesday night after McConnell set the vote in motion, Ford's counsel wrote: "An FBI supplemental background investigation that did not include an interview of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford - nor the witnesses who corroborate her testimony - can not be called an investigation".

To accommodate the senators, and to guard the sensitive information, the FBI's report is expected to be held in a secure room normally reserved only for classified matters.
Senators and aides have said that the file will contain forms of interviews conducted by the FBI - but not a conclusion from the bureau about who's telling the truth in the case.
But McConnell, who has fervently supported Kavanaugh from the beginning, vowed that, despite Democrats' complaints, the Senate will vote by the end of the week.
So far, no Republicans have said they would vote against Kavanaugh. The group's statement said he showed "extreme partisan bias", showing that he lacks the temperament to serve on the nation's highest court, during his testimony last week before the Senate Judicial Committee.
The senator said he was requesting the recordings because the committee has obtained a letter that "raises specific concerns" about the reliability of Ford's polygraph test.
Amid McConnell's remarks Wednesday night, Trump tweeted that there was "such enthusiasm and energy for Judge Brett Kavanaugh".
"The President was stating the facts", White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters during an official media conference in Washington. Lawyers for PJ Smyth and Leland Ingham Keyser, who Ford says were at the house at the time of her attack, said their clients are cooperating with authorities. The FBI also talked to two other friends of Kavanaugh's who were listed as attending a gathering during the same summer that Ford alleged she was assaulted: Chris Garrett, who went out with Ford for a time, and Tim Gaudette.
