"We made a lot of mistakes on defense", said Saban after giving up 405 yards to Arkansas (1-5, 0-3). Halfway through the season, he has yet to appear in the fourth quarter of any game. Rakeem Boyd also caught a 21-yard pass on a wheel route and Deon Stewart had a 16-yard reception on the possession. The Crimson Tide has reached 45 points in six straight games for the first time in program history.
Tagovailoa added his fourth touchdown pass late in the second quarter, again finding Jeudy for 60 yards and a 41-14 halftime lead.
The Crimson Tide also averaged 10.8 yards per offensive snap, crushing the previous high by an Arkansas opponent of 5.9 by Colorado State.
Despite quickly falling behind 21-0, there was actually a chance to Arkansas to make it interesting at one point early in the second quarter. The Hogs quickly moved inside the red zone but the drive was stopped as Storey fumbled on a quarterback draw just shy of the goal line.
"Offensively, this was our best performance", Arkansas coach Chad Morris said. In addition to Tagovailoa's four touchdown passes, the Crimson Tide also scored on two runs by Damien Harris and one each by Tulsa native Josh Jacobs and Brian Robinson Jr. On the first, Arkansas cornerback Ryan Pulley stripped tight end Irv Smith after a 47-yard gain to the 12.
Strange Light in Sky Is A Rocket Launch
This marked the first time a Falcon 9 rocket had landed on the West Coast, and was SpaceX's 30th landing of a first stage overall. Minutes after launch, the rocket's second stage separated from the first-stage booster and continued rising spaceward.
Alabama had its way on the other side of the ball.
The Razorbacks broke a streak of not scoring in the first quarter on Cheyenne O'Grady's 8-yard touchdown catch from Ty Storey with 24 seconds remaining in the opening period against Alabama. But Smith's teammate, Henry Ruggs III, was there to pick it up at the 12 and took it in for the touchdown.
Alabama increased its national lead in touchdown drives of less than two minutes by adding four scores fitting that description against the Razorbacks.
Ty Storey threw a 17-yard pass to De'Vion Warren, the first time this season Alabama has allowed more than 23 points in a game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
