"There were many iterations of the story [of Rick's final episode] and it became rather late past year that this [came together] because it was a pipe dream", Lincoln told THR "I said, 'Wouldn't it be nice to do this.' It's never been done by a cable TV channel and I didn't think it would come to much". As it turns out, Lincoln has signed on to appear in a number of Walking Dead films.
It basically comes down to Rick not walking towards the bright light. Because you're getting one, lead by none other than Rick Grimes himself. Instead, three TV movies are in the works, which Lincoln will star in. It's not surprising that her character has been written out, considering her contract negotiations famously went south earlier this year (not to mention the fact that the actress had accepted new future jobs-ones certain to conflict with The Walking Dead's rigorous shooting schedule). "What's going on? What have the grown-ups been doing while we've been scrambling around in the dirt?..." It would have been a fitting death for Rick, coupled with some badass last words, "I got 'em". Season Nine has been marketed as the last hurrah for main character Rick Grimes. The first film will explore the story of where Rick is taken and what he faces in a new corner of the zombie apocalypse. While I was trying to peacefully watch Better Call Saul, I was greeted with loud advertisements touting "RICK GRIMES' FINAL EPISODES", so I chose to see just how the show would deliver. We're going to tell the story of what happens after that helicopter flight, and these are going to be big, epic entertainments. This show is notorious for stringing fans along, and AMC certainly plays a part in that with how The Walking Dead is marketed.
"I've always been interested in what's going on out there, you know, whether or not there is contact with the wider world".
And other prominent cast members could soon follow Lincoln and Cohan.
Spice Girls announce 2019 reunion tour
Beckham, who adamantly denied a Spice Girls reunion in the past, will not be joining her '90s girl gang. Asked if they'll go outside of the United Kingdom , she said: "We are". "I'm not going on tour".
"We are telling Rick's story in another medium, and it's going to be these AMC Studios original films", Gimple told Entertainment Weekly.
"We know Rick Grimes, he would want to be home".
He said: "I suppose, to be able to kind of touch upon [the wider world] in a contained story, for me, is a very exciting proposition".
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
