Suns forward Trevor Ariza was on his way to the Wizards on Friday. until the trade was called off.
In a freaky blunder, a number of National Basketball Association players, including the Suns' Trevor Ariza, appeared on the move late Friday night - before a three-team trade that also included the Wizards and Grizzles fell apart over a miscommunication, according to ESPN.
In addition to Ariza, the Wizards will also receive a conditional second-round pick and a 2020 second-rounder from the Grizzlies.
And once the Grizzlies pulled out, it didn't take very long for the entire thing to get nixed all together.
Irving Out, Hayward & Horford Doubtful For Celtics Vs. Pelicans
We'll take the Pelicans , albeit hesitantly, as the Celtics' injury issues could ultimately be too much to overcome. "I want that same competition and just seeing where we end up a few games from here".
Ariza is not eligible to be traded until December 15, which is when players who signed free agent contracts this offseason can be dealt. Washington believes it was told Dillon Brooks in conversations with Memphis, sources said.
Ariza has averaged 9.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 34 minutes per game so far this year with the Suns.
"As human beings, we all want to feel appreciated and wanted, and when a team just shows that much appreciation in what you do, naturally you are just attracted to something like that", Ariza said at his introductory press conference on July 6.
Instead, the deal is dead and the Suns, who have actively been shopping Ariza for more than a week, are back to square one.
