The Golden Globes may have aired last night, but for "Game of Thrones" fans, the big news was a brand new first look from HBO featuring a whopping five-second teaser of season 8. Meanwhile, "Big Little Lies" has no release date, but The Wrap reports that Kidman said on New Year's Eve that everyone is looking into June for the release date. With the utmost respect to every show on the docket, there was one very brief clip that everyone in the world was waiting for: Game of Thrones.
The three-second clip shows Sansa Stark's first meeting with Daenerys Targaryen, who arrives in Winterfell on the arm of Jon Snow. We'll go with "Dany" for short. To me, it feels like she was encouraged, perhaps in a heavy-handed manner, by Jon Snow. Sansa's reaction is intriguing to say the least. We know the northerners don't like bowing to foreign deities, and Jon didn't exactly ask their permission before pledging their allegiance to the daughter of the Mad King.
The season is going to get ugly, and the breakdown of alliances, including families, is a real possibility.
Five girls die in fire in Escape Room
The Polish state news agency PAP said it had learned unofficially that the girls died from carbon monoxide asphyxiation. The move came two days after a fire killed five teenage girls locked in an escape room in the north of the country.
Well, Littlefinger tried to divide House Stark in Season 7 and look how that ended up, but relations might be a little bit icy (and fiery) between Sansa and Daenerys in the next season of Game of Thrones. Whether or not she's gotten Dany's Game of Thrones resume (mostly not good, if you really think about it), she's a great judge of character.
There was also a special sneak peek at the season teased in December at Comic Con Experience in Brazil, which showed the Painted Table at Dragonstone being consumed by ice and fire. The full line up of 2019 HBO content can be viewed on the HBO website.
