Manny Pacquiao's return to the United States has him face off against four-division champion Adrien Broner in boxing's first major fight of 2019.
As usual, much of the attention in the lead-up is on the Philippines' eight-division world champion Pacquiao, but who is the man in the opposite corner?
After 12 rounds, the judges scored the bout 117-111, 116-112, and 116-112 in favor of Pacquiao who successfully retained his WBA welterweight title for a 15th successful world title defense in his career, while also notching his tremendous 61st career win. Sherdog.com saw it 118-110 for Pacquiao, who indicated that he wants to fight Floy Mayweather Jr. next or the victor of the upcoming Mikey Garcia-Errol Spence Jr. bout.
"I beat him. Everyone out there knows I beat him", Broner said. Although I wanted to be aggressive more, my camp told me don't be careless and to counter him and wait for opportunities.
CompuBox credited Pacquiao for landing 62 more overall punches than Broner (112-of-568 to 50-of-295).
