Following on from Ninty's debut line of DIY cardboard accessories for the Switch, which can transform it into things ranging from a fishing rod into a frickin' robot suit, the new Labo kit effectively turns the console into a pseudo-VR viewer with a bunch of accessories.
Two additional expansion sets will also be available; Camera + Elephant, and Bird + Wind Pedal. "Or, if you want an even broader experience right away, you can purchase the full Nintendo Labo VR Kit, which features six VR Toy-Con projects in one package".
The VR Kits for Nintendo Switch will be available on 12 April and cost $79.99 and $39.99 respectively (we're still waiting for United Kingdom prices).
The most affordable offering from Facebook-owned VR company Oculus is the Oculus Go, which retails for US$199, integrates a headstrap, and doesn't need a smartphone after initial setup, while the US$399 Oculus Quest is targeting a Spring 2019 launch. The new Toy-Con VR Goggles can be combined with the other Toy-Con creations, and used for real-world actions.

Nintendo revealed its fourth Toy-Con cardboard kit for Nintendo Switch on Wednesday and it's all about virtual reality. The smaller starter kit will cost $40 (~RM163) and the expansion kits will each cost $20 (~RM81). On the surface, the rumours made sense: The idea of taking a compact tablet-like device and attaching lenses is well-proven in projects from Google's Cardboard to Samsung's Gear VR, and the Switch's controllers include motion tracking capabilities as standard. This was launched at the same time as the Variety Kit.
Nintendo's two Labo VR sets will be available in the U.S. from April 12, 2019, with releases in the United Kingdom and Australia expected to arrive around the same time.
